Good start for England 6-2, but disappointed not to get a clean sheet.
Unfortunate injury to Kouyate. He was stretchered off playing for Senegal, but it looked like a thigh strain and although he’ll probably be out of the WC it may not be as serious as first appeared. I think the stretcher will get lots of use.
Good draw for Wales, although I thought USA had done enough to win. Glad it was a draw though as that keeps it open for both of them. It could well be a case of who scores the most against Iran.

I’ve seen every team play now and I’d say Brazil and France are current favorites although England looked good.
Wales were awful and didn’t deserve anything. They should have done much better with the players they have so I expect their coach to be fired on their return with SC favorite to take over.

If he watched them last night, I think SC will have second thoughts about taking on the Wales job. Bale and Ramsey are way past their best and I think the only way this next generation will qualify for major tournaments is due the expansion in the number of teams participating.

I’m probably biased but I think it’s been a great World Cup so far, including some dramatic football now we’ve reached the crucial matches.
Having all the teams and stadium in effectively the same city has made it easy for fans to attend multiple matches, I’ve been to my 9th match today and have one ex colleague whose already been to 20 matches. The public transport is all free for ticket holders, the weather’s great at the moment in Qatar and the atmosphere around the city is amazing with fans from all 32 teams mixing well together. If you want a beer there are plenty of bars open to get one, though admittedly they aren’t cheap.
A great goal from Freuler tonight, hopefully I’ll get to see Kouyate play against England on Sunday, just hope he has an off day!!

Qatar has certainly done a good job. My only reservation has been the timing. Next time it’s my neck of the woods so maybe I’ll get to see a game in NY.
My only WC game was Argentina v Switzerland at Hillsboro in 66.
